Ruth Ann McIntyre, 92, of Marion, passed peacefully away at 8:38 pm on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Cedar Creek of Marion. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Monday, April 9, 1934, to Paul and Julia (Huber) VanCleave.
Ruth graduated from Warren Central High School and went on to work for many years as a secretary to the Managing Editor with the Indianapolis Star News until her retirement in 2005.
Ruth had a gentle spirit and a deep love for simple joys. She adored her cats, treasured a good book, and found great happiness in crafting. Family was at the center of her life-she especially enjoyed family cruises, traveling to Arkansas to visit loved ones, and spending time with those closest to her. After retirement, she moved to Marion to be nearer to family, a decision that brought her much comfort and connection in her later years.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen (Robert) Burnett of Marion, and Karla (Robin) Brown of Springdale, AR; her daughter‑in‑law, Julie McIntyre of Paragon; her grandchildren, Jon (Rachel) Burnett, Corie (Mike) Bailey, Greg (Kristina) Brown, Samuel (Eden) McIntyre, and Paul McIntyre; and her great‑grandchildren, Jacob Brown, Jaxson Brown, Cameron Carter, Benjamin Burnett and Thomas Burnett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul “Clifford” and Julia “Florence” VanCleave; her son, Kevin E. McIntyre; her sister, Shirley Beall; and her granddaughter, Kari Ann Burnett.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Needham‑Storey‑Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following visitation, a service to celebrate Ruth’s life will begin at 1:00 pm, officiated by her grandson, Samuel McIntyre. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
