
Thomas LeMoyne Nukes, 89, Marion, passed away at 4:47 am on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, November 23, 1936, to Taylor and Lorraine (Summers) Nukes. On December 7, 1958, he married Sandra G. Perkins and she survives.
Thomas graduated from Marion High School and attended Ball State University. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps. He faithfully served the Lord in his positions as Pastor of House of Worship for All People and as the Chaplain for both the Grant County Sheriff’s Dept and Marion General Hospital. He retired from General Tire/Gencorp after three decades. He was a devout Christian and a family man who was a great husband, wonderful father and absolutely adored his grandchildren. A sports enthusiast, a golfer and avid bicycle rider, he played for the Marion Blue Sox a semi pro baseball team as well as on the Marion Giant basketball, football and baseball teams. He was also a 3rd degree black belt in martial arts. Thomas also really enjoyed spiritual music and smooth jazz.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Sandra G. Nukes of Marion; sons, Tony L. (Vanessa) Nukes of Holt, MI, Troy L. (Maryna) Nukes of Jeffersonville, Todd L. (Rebecca) Nukes of Granger, Trent L. (Jodie) Nukes of Redlands, CA; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Taylor Nukes and Lorraine Summers.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at House of Worship for All People, 1824 S. Branson St., Marion.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Thomas’ life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Damian Jackson officiating. Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery.
