Andrews man facing felony charges on child molesting

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, IN (WPTA) – This from 21alivenews.com: A 30-year-old Andrews man accused of child molesting is now facing three felony charges.

Sebastian D. Eckert is charged with three counts of child molesting, charges that carry a potential prison sentence of up to 92 years.

He is accused of molesting a young girl.

Two judges, Davin G. Smith and Jennifer Newton, both recused themselves from the case to “avoid any conflict of interest and to avoid the appearance of any impropriety,” according to court records obtained by 21Investigates.

A judge from Adams County has been assigned as a special judge in the case.

Eckert was being held at the Huntington County Jail but he has since been released. An initial hearing has been set for Friday.
