FORT WAYNE, IN- This from 21alivenews.com: Nick McKinley has been elected to complete the remainder of State Senator Andy Zay’s term.
He will now represent Senate District 17, which includes Grant, Huntington, and Wabash counties, through November.
The election follows Zay’s appointment to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, as government employees are not able to concurrently hold more than one ‘lucrative‘ office under the Indiana Constitution.
Officials say McKinley will be sworn in on Monday, February 9. He will also appear on the Republican primary ballot in May.
McKinley brings a background in local government, law enforcement, and business to the Indiana Senate.
He says he will focus on defending constitutional freedoms, delivering tax relief, protecting school choice, promoting pro-growth economic policies, supporting law enforcement, and standing with Indiana farmers and small businesses.
