John Wayne “Buzz” Frazier

John Wayne "Buzz" Frazier, 80, of Marion, passed away at 4:30 pm on Sunday, May 11, 2025, in his home. He was born in Manhattan, Kansas, on Saturday, November 25, 1944, to Elvin and Dorothy (Munson) Frazier. On June 28, 1980 he married Mary Alice Sheetz, who survives. John graduated from Manhattan High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War where he became a certified electrician. John was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was an Aviation Fire Control Technician (Fire Control) Petty Officer 3rd Class, and was honorably discharged. Following his military service, John worked as an electrician for 39 years with General Motors in Marion, retiring in 2005. John was an avid Cubs, Colts and NASCAR fan. He liked bowling and was inducted into the Grant County USBC Hall of Fame where he had served on the board of directors. He had bowled for over 50 years in every Grant County bowling center. John also enjoyed planting and caring for flowers including wisteria and hibiscus. John was a hard working and determined man that will be missed by his family. In addition to his loving wife, Mary Alice Frazier, survivors include his son, Bart Frazier of Marion; brother, Lawrence (Dorothy) Frazier of KS; many nieces, nephews, and friends; his special nephew, Michael (Kathleen) Sheetz; and his cats, Junior Katt and Walter. He was preceded in death by his father, Elvin Frazier; mother, Dorothy Frazier; siblings, Lois Appleby, Byron Frazier, Betty Maxey Jewell, Judy Carter and Susan Bunch; and his beloved cat, Jake. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 15, 2025, as well as 1 hour prior to the service on Friday starting at 10:30 am at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. A funeral service to celebrate John's life will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park in Marion. Memorial contributions may be directed to Marion-Grant County Humane Society P.O. Box 1921, Marion, IN 46952.
