Hazel Marie Bailey, 83, of Marion, passed away in her home at 1:06 pm on Saturday, May 10, 2025. She was born in New Iberia, Louisiana, on Sunday, April 19, 1942, to Willie Bourda and Georgie Anna Williams. She married John Austin Bailey and he preceded her in death.
She worked as a Loan and Training Manager with Bank of America in California. Hazel was a member of the Church of Christ throughout her life. She enjoyed running the pantry for the church and selling Mary Kay. More than anything, Hazel was a dedicated mother to her children. She will be remembered as a caring woman who even mothered the friends of her children.
Hazel is survived by her sons, Michael (Nadina) Bailey of Marion and Corey Bailey of California; grandchildren, Whitney Miranda, Corey Bailey, Jr., Isaiah Bailey-Meier, Don Bailey-Meier, Taylor Bailey-Meier, Derick Bailey-Meier, and Mikayla Bailey, as well as many great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, Willie Bourda and Georgie Anna Williams; husband, John Austin Bailey, Sr.; son, John Austin Bailey, Jr.; daughter, Bridget Bailey-Meier; brother, Willie; and sister, Mary Alice.
At Hazel's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
