Martha L. Purdom, 85, Marion, passed away at 2:48 am on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, January 19, 1939, to Edward and Hilda (Ledergerber) Munday. On July 26, 1958, she married Walter L. "Wimpy" Purdom, who preceded her in death.
Martha graduated from Bennett High School in 1956 and was a packer for 32 years with Ball-Foster, retiring in 1999. She was a member of the American Legion and Moose (Marion). She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and helping her sister, Rose, at the family greenhouse.
Survivors include her children, Pamela Korporal of Marion, Paula Coppock of Fairmount, Brian (Marcia France) Purdom of Marion, and Laura (Danny) McGraw of Marion; sisters, Mary (Howard) Goins of Marion, Eileen (David) Remero of Selma, CA, Carolyn Keefer of Sevierville, TN, and Patty Munday of Gas City; grandchildren, Eric Korporal, Angie (Gilbert) Cochran, Benjamin (Megan) Coppock, Brionna Coppock, Bethany (Trent) Payne, Brittany Purdom, and Amanda Hammond; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thomas Munday, John Munday, William Munday, and Donald Munday; two sisters, Betty Vian and Rose Johnson; grandson, Zachary Spencer; and great-grandson, Damon Cochran.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Martha's life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Andrew Heald officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
