Brenda Sue "Twig" Johnson, 60, of Marion, passed away at 10:33 am on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She had fought a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Mansfield, Ohio, on Friday, December 13, 1963, to Gene and Norma (Beal) Simmons, and she grew up in Bellville, Ohio. On March 22, 2003, she married Jimmy Johnson, and he survives.
Brenda graduated from Clear Fork High School in Ohio in 1981 and went on to receive her associate's degree. She was an avid quilter, and she enjoyed gardening, camping, and tanning. More than anything in the world, Brenda cherished her family, especially being with her children and grandchildren. She was a compassionate, loving, understanding, and giving woman with a great sense of humor. Brenda was a mother figure to many over the years and almost always put the needs of others before herself.
In addition to her loving husband of 21 years, survivors include her father, Gene (Nora Goodrich) Simmons of OH; children, Alice Holt, Brian Alters, Jr., Catrina (T.J.) Brown, Dustin Shearer, Joshua Johnson, and Dustin (Samantha Lowe) Lloyd; grandchildren, Chloe, Livy, Danica, Dahlia, Jacob, Logan, Skyla, Anoka, Holden, and Benny; brother, Larry Simmons of OH; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; sister-in-law, Laurie Simmons; friends whom she considered as family, Donna (Don) Chafins, Leoa (Terry) Linamen, Raina Chapman, and Carlee (Geoff) Saunier; and her several beloved pets.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Simmons; daughter, Amanda Shafer; and brother, Gary "Skinny" Simmons.
The family will receive visitors for a celebration of Brenda's life from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
