Theda Belle Goens, 98, Muncie, passed away at 4:20 am on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Westminster Village in Muncie. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Wednesday, June 9, 1926, to Ralph A. and Mary E. (Wilson) Smith. On December 30, 1951, she married Cletus Malcolm Goens, and he preceded her in death on December 8, 2013.
Theda graduated from Marion High School in 1945 and worked at RCA, where she was an inspector for 39 years. She was a member of House of Worship for All People.
Theda came from a Christian background and remained involved in the church throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling around the United States. More than anything, though, Theda loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Debra L. Goens of Muncie; son, Cletus M. (Matt Wire) Goens, II, of Fort Wayne; and grandcats, Sebastian, Tatianna, Toby, and Saskia.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elbert Smith, John W. Smith, and Ralph Smith, Jr.; and sisters, Freida Smith-Goens, Selma Smith-Vital, Marilyn Smith, and Lovie Smith-Stewart.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a Celebration of Life for Theda will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Damian Jackson officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
