Elizabeth “Lib” McIntyre

Elizabeth “Lib” McIntyre, 102, Marion, IN passed away at 10:45 pm on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Colonial Oaks Retirement Apartments in Marion. She was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sunday, December 23, 1923, to Jesse and Lillie (Hope) Norman.  On November 6, 1953, she married Rev. Robert W. McIntyre and he preceded her on March 20, 2019.

Lib graduated from Thomasboro High School in Charlotte, NC and attended Central Wesleyan College and then graduated from Marion College, now Indiana Wesleyan University.

She worked as a bank teller at Marion National Bank. While attending Central Wesleyan College, Lib gave her life to the Lord in full surrender during a revival meeting. She felt called to serve in missions; however, the door was never opened to do so. Instead, after marrying Robert, the Lord allowed her to visit almost all of the missionary works of The Wesleyan Church, both overseas and at home. During her senior year of college, she worked in the Youth Department of the Wesleyan Denomination and that is where she met the man who would become her husband, Robert McIntyre who had just lost his wife and had four children. A year after their marriage, June was born and completed their family. Robert and Lib then moved to Marion, Indiana from Ohio in 1955. They became charter members of Lakeview Wesleyan Church at its beginning with Dr. Eugene Cockrell as their pastor. Robert and Lib McIntyre went on to serve a lifetime in The Wesleyan Church in various roles.

Survivors include her children, Judith “Judy” (Rev. James) Keilholtz of Marion, June Irvine of Hoschton, GA, John (Pam) McIntyre of Marion, James “Jim” (Carla) McIntyre of Gas City; grandchildren, Juline Keilholtz, Dr. Jana (Dr. Chris) Harvey, Josh (Gretchen) McIntyre, Jenny (Kyle) Musser, Teresa (Kevin) Batman, Rev.
