
Chien Van Doan, 75, of Wabash, Indiana, passed peacefully at Parkview Regional Medical Center at 10:20 a.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2026. He was born on April 30, 1951 in Hue, Vietnam to Quan Van Doan and Tran Thi Sen. He was the oldest of seven brothers and two sisters.
Chien received his Associates Degree from Ivy Tech. He worked the last several years at D.F.M. Solutions in Marion, Indiana, where he developed many close friendships. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. His passions included cooking, gardening, watching sports, and most of all, spending time with his family and granddog, Vinson (aka his “buddy”). He was known for his kindness, humor, generosity, and gratitude. He always made sure to tell everyone “Thank you”, even when he didn’t feel so well. His greatest joy of all was visiting back home in Vietnam and giving back everything he could to his family and community.
He married the love of his life Sue Ellen Harrison on December 3, 1978. Along with his wife, he is survived by four children, Gian (Marie) Doan of Wabash, Kenneth (Hongvan) Doan of Kokomo, Indiana, Alina (Ricky) Perkins and Christina (Brandon) Doan, both of Wabash; six grandchildren, Draven Doan, Natalie Doan, Hannah Perkins, Martin Doan, Sophie Doan, and Daniel Doan, his mother, five brothers, and two sisters He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash.
