WABASH COUNTY, IN- On Thursday, May 14th, 2026 at approximately 3:50 p.m. the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle, rear-end crash, on State Road 15, just north of County Road 400 North in Wabash County.
The preliminary investigation shows that Brayden Welch, age 21 of Wabash, IN was traveling southbound on SR15, in a 2016 Chevy Silverado, and struck the rear of a 2019 Metropolitan School District bus as it was slowing to a stop with flashing cautionary lights activated.
Mr. Welch’s vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage. Mr. Welch suffered several significant injuries, and was flown from the scene by Parkview Samaritan.
There was a total of 26 occupants on MSD’s bus, including the driver, Lori Schultz, and 25 students. One juvenile was transported by ambulance to Parkview Hospital, Wabash, and one additional juvenile was taken by family. At the time of this release no serious student injuries have been reported.
This crash, and the causation factors that may have contributed, remain under investigation. There is no further information to release at this time.
