
William “Bill” Franklin Alford, 83, of Marion, Indiana, died at 12:36 pm, Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Wyndmoor of Marion. He was born on December 22, 1942, in Anderson, Indiana, to Carl Jr. and Elizabeth (McCurry) Poor.
Bill was a 1959 graduate of Somerset High School. He was a US Navy veteran. Bill married Nellie Corn on November 12, 1982. He worked and retired from General Motors/AC Delco in Anderson. Bill was a member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid bowler who coached and bowled in several leagues over the years. He also enjoyed collecting guns, fishing, hunting, and camping. Bill always looked to buy interesting tools to add to his collection. He was the type of person who made everyone feel welcomed around him.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Alford of Marion, four children; Juanette Leisure of Muncie, Indiana, Lucinda “Cindy” (Jeff Riley) Leisure West of Farmland, Indiana, Robert (Ashley) Alford of Parker City, Indiana, and Anthony (Shannon) Alford of Muncie, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, three brothers, Mike (Debbie) Poor of Arkansas, Carl (Jamie) Poor, III of Wabash, and David Poor of Lagro, Indiana, sister, Tina Burton of Montpelier, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, William E. Alford, three brothers, Victor Poor, Jim Poor, and, Steve Poor, and sister, Linda Quarry.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Vinson Memorial Park Cemetery, Summitville, Indiana. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.
Preferred memorial is charity of donor’s choice.
