Raymond “Ray” B. Lopez, 66, of Marion, Indiana, passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, December 26, 2025. He held many titles throughout his life, including husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and beloved friend to many.
Ray was born on June 5, 1959, in Tucson, Arizona, to Frank and Ruth (Batt) Lopez. He dedicated his life to his family and to helping others. Ray never met a stranger–he was quick to make a friend and even quicker to crack a joke to get a laugh. Ray never found a problem he couldn’t fix. His hands were always busy, and his heart was always open. His willingness to help others was as constant as his kindness–he would give his last dollar to someone in need. When he wasn’t working on one of his many projects, he found joy in watching football and shouting at the television. Ray’s warmth, humor, and generosity brightened the lives of all who knew him.
Ray is survived by his wife, Rhonda (McVay) Lopez; his children, Precious, Monica, Jesse, Rachel, and Raymond; his sisters, Terry, Brenda, Connie, and Florence; his cherished in-laws, Willard and Shirley McVay; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and six grandchildren. Ray also leaves behind many friends, including his closest friends, Andy and Christy Lowden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruth; his brothers, Pete and Frank; and his mother-in-law, June McVay.
Ray’s warmth, generosity, and humor will continue to live on through his family and friends, and through memories that will be carried on by all who were blessed to know him. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, the care he showed for others, and his strong work ethic.
In lieu of flowers, and for the safety of the family’s pets, the family asks that you share stories, memories and photos of Ray at RememberingRayLopez@gmail.com.
In honor of Ray’s wishes, there will be no service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
