
Sharon Marie Highley, 76, of LaFontaine, Indiana, formerly of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 3:33 pm, Monday, December 29, 2025, at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center in LaFontaine. She was born on September 20, 1949, in Wabash, to Allen S. and Ruth Ellen (Binkerd) Lynn.
Sharon was a 1967 Southwood High School graduate. She pursued her passion for cosmetology at Marion Beauty College, later owning her own salon: Sharon’s Beauty Shop. Sharon also worked at LoBill, Rea Logan, and Marsh, ultimately retiring from Josiah White’s, all in Wabash. She was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church, and the Country Belles Home Ec Club. Sharon enjoyed crocheting, gardening, growing flowers, cooking, and baking- she was famous for her raspberry pies. She loved her cat, but above all, she cherished her grandchildren.
She is survived by two children, Kyle (Kim) Highley and Trisha (Bill) Abell, both of Wabash; five grandchildren, Mersadez (Bobby) Mettler, Gwendolyn Abell, and Grant Abell, all of Wabash, Gabi Hehe, of Jonesboro, and Mason Hehe, of Wabash; three great grandchildren, Leila, Amika, and Tatum, and her brother, DeWayne (Sheila) Lynn of North Manchester, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Chester Lynn.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 2, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Melissa Rice officiating. Inurnment will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Lincolnville, at a later date. Friends may call 9-11:00 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Animal Shelter of Wabash County or Lupus Foundation of America.
