Teddy W. “Ted” Bennett

Teddy W. "Ted" Bennett, 73, of Gas City, passed away at 6:11 pm on Friday, November 28, 2025. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, September 1, 1952, to Walter and Juanita (Miles) Bennett.  On December 16, 1971, he married Rena K. Kierstead, who survives.

Ted served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He worked as a forklift operator and in shipping at General Cable. Ted was in several hunting and archery clubs over the years. He loved being outdoors, especially hunting. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He loved reading, especially western and military fiction novels. Ted was a quiet, honest and kind-hearted man who will be missed dearly for his giving nature.

Ted is survived by his wife, Rena K. Bennett of Gas City; son, Justin (Malissa) Bennett of Gas City; grandchildren, Jessicca Bennett, Gabrielle Bennett, Jacob Bennett, Brody Bennett, Olivia Bennett, Mason Bennett, Anna (Jay) Smith, Kayla (Jacob Voight) Bennett, Chandler Medrano, Cassie Bennett, and Cory (Angie) Bennett; great-grandchildren, Kylinn and Mia; brothers, Gene (Ann) Bennett of Ohio and Danny (Pam) Bennett of Gas City; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; as well as best friend, Tom (Late Kathy) Dixon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Juanita Bennett; son, Jacob W. Bennett; and several siblings.

At Ted's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.  

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
