Gregory "Greg" L. Cain, 79, Marion, passed away peacefully at 12:56 pm on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Greenfield, Indiana. He was born on December 11, 1945, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Walter Cain and G. Lilian (Cozad) Cain.
Greg was a proud graduate of Marion High School. He dedicated many years of his career as a manager with Dollar General, where he was known for his leadership and commitment. Greg enjoyed fishing and watching sports--especially cheering on his favorite teams.
Greg is survived by his children: Gregory L. Cain Jr. (Jan) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Tammy R. Zetterberg (Wendell) of Kirklin, Indiana; and Tina L. Torres (Hector) of Michigantown, Indiana. He is also survived by his sister, Debra “Debbie” Yergens of Greenfield, Indiana; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cherished friends; and his beloved cat, Gray Kitty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and G. Lilian Cain, and his sister, Janet Darlene Schaumleffel.
Greg will be remembered for his kind heart, love for family, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he touched.
The family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Greg's life will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Dan Van Cise officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Grant Memorial Park.
