MIAMI COUNTY, IN- The Miami County Community Foundation, a fund affiliate of the Northern Indiana Community Foundation, is celebrating a generous pledge from First Farmers Bank & Trust, which recently committed $4,500 to the Miami County Community Fund. Thanks to the Lilly Endowment GIFT VIII $2-for-$1 matching program, this gift will be tripled, resulting in a $13,500 boost for Miami County.
“We are honored to play a role in this transformative initiative,” said Michael Kuhn of First Farmers Bank & Trust. “Supporting the Miami County Community Foundation means investing in the vitality and resilience of our hometowns. The Lilly Endowment’s matching opportunity makes this moment even more meaningful.”
Community Funds are permanent endowments that grow over time to support local needs today and for generations to come. In the past year alone, grants from Miami County’s Community Funds have supported projects like the Circus City Festival’s upgraded sound system, new batting cages for the North Miami Youth League, and the Peru High School Drama Club’s Spring musical. Dozens of other nonprofits, schools, and community groups benefit each year thanks to the generosity of donors to community funds.
The Community Foundation applauds First Farmers Bank & Trust leading the way and challenges other banks, businesses, and organizations to consider doing the same. Every dollar given to community funds right now is tripled, making this the perfect time to start a new fund or contribute to one already in place.
“This is a historic chance to strengthen our endowment,” said Corinne Becknell Lucas, Executive Director of the Northern Indiana Community Foundation. “Together, we can ensure Miami County nonprofits and programs thrive for generations.”
The matching opportunity is available until December 31, 2025, or until matching funds are depleted. Pledges are also accepted if fulfilled by December 31, 2027.
