PERU, IN- Monday evening the Peru Community School Board voted 5-2 to purchase the Roxy Theater, located on North Broadway in Peru. This project will be part of a $23.5 million district-wide improvement project for Peru Community Schools. The school owns property around the theater known as the Tiger North Campus. High school softball, soccer and youth football play at the complex.
Plans for the renovated Roxy Theater once complete will be to house the administration, maintenance and transportations offices. There will also be space for the school corporation’s bus fleet. It will also serve as the public restroom for athletic events played at Tiger North Campus.
The price tag to purchase and renovate the Roxy Theater will be approximately $5.7 million and the $23.5 million overall project for Peru Community Schools will hit every school building over the course of the next few years. Renovations on any of the projects won't begin until at least 2026 and the projects keep the tax rate under the threshold while also not raising taxes.
