Janice C. Spaulding, 83, Fairmount, passed away at 5:57 pm on Monday, June 2, 2025, in Avon. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Sunday, August 17, 1941, to Jesse and Mabel (Wilson) Smith. On August 3, 1968, she married William Spaulding, who preceded her.
Janice was a graduate of Marion High School and continued her education at Ivy Tech. A devoted member of Grace Community Church, she found joy in sharing her love of music by playing the guitar during worship. She had a talent for crocheting and enjoyed word finds, hobbies that reflected both her creativity and love of quiet reflection. Janice embraced adventure through travel and cherished every moment spent with her family. Her deep commitment to her church was evident in the many years she dedicated to teaching in the children’s department, leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives.
Survivors include her daughter, Debra (Patrick) Smith of Avon; grandchildren, Jesslynn (Derek) Anderson, Corbin Smith, Daniel (Erica) Epling, John (Eunice) Epling; great-grandsons, Eli Epling, Tucker Epling, Emmett Epling, and Walter Epling; and niece, Kathy (Fred) Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mabel Smith; husband, William Spaulding; daughter, Sue (Donovan) Epling; and sister, Phyllis Fihe.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Grace Community Church 1810 E. Bradford Pike, Marion, IN 46952.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Janice's life will begin at 12:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
