Dorothy A. Adams, 91, of Jonesboro, passed away at 6:30 pm on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in her home. She was born in Pittsburg, Illinois, on Tuesday, December 26, 1933, to George and Marie (Knowles) Evrard.
Dorothy graduated from high school and worked as a salesperson for The Paris Ladies Dress Shop in Marion. She was a member of Sunnycrest Baptist Church. Dorothy enjoyed reading her Bible and had helped teach Sunday School in her younger years. She took great pride in keeping a home for her family and was a dedicated mother to her children. She had a great singing voice and liked to sing at church.
Survivors include her sons, Steve K. Francis of FL, W. Michael Francis of Marion, Anthony W. "Tony" (Sherry) Francis of Marion, and Ron (Kathy) Adams of Upland; sister, Vivian Rogers of Marion; grandsons, Seth (Jenise) Francis and Anthony (Allison) Francis; granddaughters, Kiley (Jason) Shrout and Christa Francis; step-grandsons, Troy and Travis; step-granddaughters, Kimberly and Keileigh; several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, George (Marie) Evrard; mother, Marie K (George) Evrard; first husband, William Francis, Jr.; second husband, Charles W. Adams; sisters, Bea, Louise and Reedie; and brothers, Leo, George and David.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
A funeral service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery.
