Jerry L. Boatright, Sr., 81, of Jonesboro, formerly of Texas, went to his Lord and Savior at 1:34 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Marion Health. He was born in Texas City, Texas, on Sunday, January 23, 1944, to Luther and Matilda (Warner) Boatright. On August 20, 1988, he married Mary D. Jernigan, who survives.
Jerry honorably served in the United States Navy. He attended Twin City Bible Baptist Church in Marion. Jerry enjoyed owning and managing booths at antique shops and had an interest in collecting tools. He was an automotive enthusiast and enjoyed caring for the cars he owned over the years. Jerry loved listening to music, especially gospel music. He was an outgoing man who liked to meet new people and he never met a stranger. Jerry was dedicated to his family and will be deeply missed, especially by his wife whom he loved with all of his heart.
Jerry is survived by wife, Mary D. Boatright of Jonesboro; children, Jerry L. (Diana) Boatright, Jr. of TX, Judy L. Poole of TX, Lyle E. (Mary) McKinley of TX, Richard M. (Lynnette L.) McKinley of MO; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces, nephews, and friends; as well as his dogs, Abby and Gizzy and six cats.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther R. and Matilda Boatright; daughter, Linda S. Garner; sister in infancy; and brothers, Bradford (Ruby) Boatright, Louis (Carolyn) Boatright.
Family and friends will gather for inurnment with military honors at a later date at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, IN.
