Chester R. Babb, 90, of Marion, passed away at 7:50 am on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. He was born in Greenville, Kentucky, on Sunday, May 20, 1934, to James and Gladys (Hundley) Babb.
Chester graduated from Marion High School and worked as an Engineering Tech for 44 years with Thomson Consumer Electronics (RCA), retiring in 1998. He was a member of Hillside Wesleyan Church.
Chester was an avid basketball fan, cheering for the Marion Giants, Butler, and the Pacers. He also enjoyed watching the Colts. In 1972, he was part of a small group that opened an RCA facility in Taipei, where he helped train local employees. Chester loved cars and traveling.
Survivors include his son, Ron (Lori) Babb of Marion; daughter, Cheryl (Robert) McHenry of Marion; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wives, June J. Babb and Bettie J. Babb; father, James Herbert Babb; mother, Gladys (James) Babb; brothers, James (Judy) Babb, Larry Babb, and Earl (Barbara) Babb; and sister, Mary (Don) Marshall.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the visitation, a memorial service to celebrate Chester’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Gary Bingham officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
