Jane Ann Taylor

Jane Ann Taylor, 94, Muncie, passed away at 6:52 pm on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Brickyard Healthcare in Muncie, Indiana.  She was born on August 11, 1930, to Harold and Margaret (Brock) Mahoney in Marion, Indiana.  On August 18, 1948, she married Joseph W. Taylor, who preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Andrew M. Taylor; brother-in-law, David Linville; and great-grandson, Oliver S. Taylor Morgan. Jane graduated from Jonesboro High School.  A lifelong musician, she studied piano with several teachers near her home, and later at Indiana University.  After her children were born, she found the best teachers available for their musical education.  Jane worked alongside her husband as the secretary and bookkeeper in their construction business.  Later, she served for over ten years at Taylor University as secretary to the campus pastor.  In her later years, she volunteered at food pantries in the Gas City and Jonesboro area. She also volunteered as a tutor to adults with reading difficulties and those working toward their GED. Jane was a devout Christian and an active member of Gas City First United Methodist Church for 76 years.  Playing the organ, playing the piano, and singing in the church choir over many years were just a few of the ways she used her talents as a musician and a lover of music. Survivors include her sons, Samuel J. (Becky) Taylor of Muncie and Timothy M. (Wrenne) Taylor of Carmel; daughters, Gwendolyn J. (John) Lattimer of Muncie, Jennifer A. (Robert) Nowalk of Pittsburgh, PA, and Susan K. (Toby) Clairmont of Battle Ground, WA; and sister, Alice Linville of Venice, FL.  Jane is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.  Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Jane’s life will begin at 1:00 pm.  Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
