Billie Jo Atkinson, 70, of Jonesboro, passed away in her home at 12:15 pm on Sunday, August 25, 2024. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, August 27, 1953, to Wilmer and Olatha (Yeakle) Bricker. On September 16, 1983, she married Steven D. Atkinson, who survives.
Billie graduated from Marion High School and several years later from Ivy Tech Community College. She loved to read, do puzzles and word searches. She crafted, which included making wreaths and crocheting. She enjoyed studying her genealogy and recorded all the information she discovered in a book. She loved her plants and just as recently as a week ago replanted many of them. She loved her dog Snoopy. More than anything, she loved her family.
Billie is survived by husband, Steven D. Atkinson of Jonesboro; daughters, Tammy (David) Cregar of Russiaville, Tina Landis of Jonesboro, Jolynn Daugherty of Marion; son, Derrick (Breanne) Atkinson of Fairmount; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and one soon to be born; sister, Leotha (Danny) Lowe of KY; dear family friend, Loren Minton; special friends, Mike (late Judy) Simpkins; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, Wilmer and Olatha Bricker, sister, Kim Hernandez.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 30, 2024 at First Baptist Church 403 W. 4th St., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a memorial service to celebrate Billie's life will be held at 7:00 pm at the church with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
