Aron Michael Kennedy

Aron Michael Kennedy, 54, Marion, passed away at 10:43 am on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Tuesday, August 11, 1970, to Dr. John Kennedy and Mary Jo Day.

Aron graduated from Marion High School in 1988 and Indiana University in 1994.  He loved football and baseball and played both during high school.  He was a fantastic football player and was selected to play in the All-Stars Shriner's Bowl.  He went on to play his freshman year of college football for the Butler Bulldogs before transferring to Indiana to finish his bachelor’s degree in history and political science.  Aron was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals and was a season ticket holder for IU football.   His favorite thing to do was visit baseball fields with his son, Jack.  He was also a huge history buff and avid reader.

Aron was one-of-a-kind when it came to his humor and wit.  He loved animals as well as kids, and he loved to spend time with his son, Jack, and with his niece, Sloan.  He was an incredible father, son, brother, and friend.  He treasured his friendships and will forever be grateful for his “chosen family”, Jenn and John Burns.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Jo Day of Bloomington; father, John (Linda, Tyler Hamilton, and Lindsay Roesly) Kennedy of Marion; son, Jack Kennedy and ex-spouse/mother to Jack, Amy Kennedy, both of Indianapolis; sister, Holly (Doug and Sloan) Currie of Dallas, TX; and aunt, Betty Jo Day of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by both his maternal grandparents, Betty (Strange) Day and Elmer and Russell Day, as well as his paternal grandparents, Mary Alice (Young) Kennedy and John Clarence Kennedy.

A memorial visitation for Aron will take place from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
