LC Smith, 94, of rural Peru, Indiana, died at 8:45 p.m., on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at his home. He was born on May 27, 1930, in Tazewell, Tennessee, to Tilman and Della (Meyers) Smith.
He married Clara Dollarhide on July 16, 1951, in Paintsville, Kentucky; she died on January 1, 2013. He retired from Ford Meter Box in Wabash, in 1992, after 23 years. LC attended the Wabash Free Will Baptist Church on Erie Street. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, as well as gardening and golfing.
He is survived by two children, Doug Smith of Wabash, Indiana, and Terri Smith of Peru; two grandsons, Shane (Tiffany) Smith and Ryan (Maranda) Smith, both of Wabash; four great-grandchildren, Blake Smith, Ashton Smith, Jackson Smith, and Ella Smith, all of Wabash. He was also preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Landon Smith, five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., at Coffey Mortuary, 937 Broad Street, Tazewell, TN, 37879, with Rev. Boyd Meyers officiating. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, in Tazewell. Friends may call 4-7 p.m., on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, and from 4-7 p.m., on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Coffey Mortuary.
