Charles “Chuck” Edward Boyll

Charles “Chuck” Edward Boyll, 84, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 9:16 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family. Chuck was born November 21, 1941, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to the late Charles William Boyll and Martha Louise (Smith) Boyll.

A proud veteran, Chuck answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army in 1960. He later served in Germany as part of the 54th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Rifle Battalion, during his time with the U.S. Army in Europe. His military service remained an important part of who he was throughout his life. Chuck was deeply proud to have served his country and held tremendous respect for his fellow servicemen and women. He had an unwavering love for his country and the American flag and for everything it represented to him.

Following his military service, Chuck returned home and built a life centered around hard work, family, friendship, and the simple things he loved most. He worked for Ford Meter Box Company in Wabash for many years before retiring in 1999.

Chuck was happiest when he was spending time with the people he loved. He enjoyed traveling out West and especially loved taking road trips, where getting there was often just as much a part of the adventure as the destination. He enjoyed stopping along the way to take in the sights and watch for wildlife.

Throughout his life, Chuck loved golfing, bowling, camping, fishing, boating, and water skiing. He was always ready for a good game of cards and especially enjoyed poker, euchre, pinochle, hearts, and just about any game that brought family and friends around the table.

Retirement gave Chuck more time to enjoy life’s quieter pleasures. He enjoyed working at the Crows Nest with his son Tom and daughter in law Melanie, working puzzles at the kitchen table, watching John Wayne westerns, and spending time sitting on the porch at Tom and Melanie’s cabin. He also shared a special companionship with his beloved German Shepherd, Zona.

Chuck was a member of American Legion Post 15 in Wabash, Indiana.

Above all else, Chuck’s greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind.

He is survived by his wife, Bev (Booth) Boyll; previous wife, Shirley (Hobbs) Boyll; stepmother, Anne Boyll; son, Thomas “Tom” Edward (Melanie) Boyll of Wabash; and daughter, Anita (Boyll) Eads of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and God daughter Holly (Childers) Owen’s of Silver Lake, Indiana.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Chelsea (Ben) Laudermilch of Rome, Pennsylvania; Audra (Stephen) Carnagua of Whiteland, Indiana; Clint (Lisa) Marshall of Melbourne, Florida; Dayne “DJ” (Maria) Marshall of Lincolnville, Indiana; Tysan Eads; Teia Eads; and Trista (Austin) Fancher, all of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Chuck was blessed with 16 great-grandchildren: Gracelyn, Jana, Karis, Corbin, and Selah Laudermilch; Anara and Cecilia Carnagua; Colton, Austin, and Jenna Marshall; Libee, Maddox, Bridge, Emmy, and Willow Marshall; and Brexton “Brexy” Fancher. He is also survived by his brothers, Leroy (Gigi) Burdine of Peru, Indiana, and Mike (Donna) Boyll of Kouts, Indiana.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles “Chuck” William Boyll; his mother, Martha “Louise” (Boyll) Brown; stepfathers, Roy Burdine and Burl Brown; his late first wife, Mary Ann (Boyll) Acree; and his brothers, Wayne (Jean) Boyll, Ronnie (Diane) Burdine, and Billy Boyll.

His family will remember his strength, his independence, his patriotism, his love of the outdoors, and the unmistakable way he lived life on his own terms.
