
Betty Jean Bullard, 85, of Marion, passed away at 10:28 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in Marion. She was born in Fleming County, Kentucky, on Monday, March 3, 1941, to Delmar and Myrtle (Hamilton) Planck. On June 12, 2013, she married the love of her life, Virgil Bullard.
Betty enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She loved smoking a cigarette while drinking cold coffee, and getting lost in a good mystery novel. She enjoyed watching television, playing poker, and spending time at the casino. She also loved going to the movies, working in her yard, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Jonie Riddle of Marion, Linda (Mark) Stiles of Baileyton, TN, Karlyn Holt of Marion, and Dawn (Steve) MacDonald of Fort Wayne; brother, Jerry Planck of Marion; sister, Carol Carter of Chuckey, TN; grandchildren, Dallas (Jeremy) Seacat of Marion, Derek (Sabrina) Riddle of Ferdinand Beach, FL, Raymond Saylor of Baileyton, TN, Madison (Kayla) Robideau-Holt of Newport, TN, Hana Svetlovics of Marion, and Gabe Svetlovics of Marion; great-grandchildren, Hayleigh Riddle of Ferdinand Beach, FL, and Saydee Riddle of Ferdinand Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews; beloved dog, Britches; beloved cats, Kitkat and Smokey Joe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Myrtle Planck; husband, Virgil W. Bullard; brother, Melvin “Sonny” Planck; sister, Debbie Alston; and grandson, Ryan Heflin.
The family would like to personally thank Heart to Heart Hospice and their staff as well as Betty’s private caregivers, Crystal, Susan, and Bridget for their care and compassion.
The family will receive visitors from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Betty’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery, at a later date.
