Janice L. Nelson, 80, of Swayzee, passed away at 6:24 pm on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in her home. She was born in Swayzee, Indiana, on Sunday, May 26, 1946, to Arnold and Crystal (Brunk) Rudy. On September 2, 1966, she married Mike Nelson, and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2005.
Janice graduated from Swayzee High School and worked as a beautician with Hair Trends in Swayzee. She was a member of and very involved with Swayzee Community Church (formerly Swayzee United Methodist Church). Janice loved arts and crafts, sewing, and playing cards with her friends.
Survivors include her son, Jeffrey Nelson of Greentown; grandchildren, Emma Nelson, and Trevor Nelson; brother, Ken Rudy of Swayzee; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Crystal Rudy; husband, Mike Nelson; daughter, Suzanne Nelson; and her brother, Gary Rudy.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon on Friday, June 26, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Janice’s life will begin at 12:00 noon with Jenni Debaun officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
