Barbara Jean Curless, 84, of rural Lagro, Indiana, died at 9:15 pm, Thursday, June 18, 2026, at her home. She was born on April 16, 1942, in St. Mary’s, Ohio, to Leland and Hazel (Jacobs) McDaniel.
Barbara married Donald E. Curless in Wabash on August 2, 1963; he died July 12, 2023. She worked as a secretary in Washington D.C. while Don was in the Army, and for United Tech in Huntington, and General Tire and Whites Residential and Family Services, both of Wabash. Barbara enjoyed horseback riding, old movies, old country music, and dogs. She also enjoyed bird watching, fishing, cooking shows, and sweets, especially chocolate. Above all Barbara loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Brad (Lisa) Curless; grandsons, Cody (Erika) Curless, Austin (Danielle) Curless, and Dylan (Ellie) Curless, all of Lagro; great grandchildren, Ella McAllister, Autumn Curless, Winter Curless, Stetson Curless, and Emmett Curless. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald, grandson Asher Eugene Curless, and two brothers, William and Edward McDaniel.
Graveside services and burial will be private, in Matlock Cemetery, Wabash.
Preferred memorial is Ronald McDonald House.
