Jayne Anne Slatter

Jayne Anne Slatter, 84, Gas City, passed away in her home at 5:06 am on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Tuesday, October 7, 1941, to Wilbur “Dutch” and Naomi (Dickerson) Favors.

For more than 30 years, she served as a dedicated nurse at Marion General Hospital and the Marion VA, caring for countless patients with compassion and kindness. A longtime member of the National Quilters Society, she was an avid quilter who created more than 200 quilts throughout her lifetime. Her legacy lives on in the love and care stitched into each handcrafted quilt she made. Quilting was her greatest passion, and in one remarkable year alone, she completed nine quilts. She cherished spending time with her family and especially adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Holidays such as Christmas and Easter were treasured occasions spent celebrating with loved ones. She also had a special place in her heart for children with special needs, serving as a foster mother to three special-needs children and providing them with unwavering love and support. She loved dogs and raised Shar-Peis, enjoyed visiting tea rooms, and found joy in crafting and jewelry making. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, visiting destinations including Hawaii and Arizona. Above all, she will be remembered for her love of God and loving heart, creative spirit, and the devotion she showed to her family and others throughout her life.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol (David) Williams of Eaton; sons, Christopher Slatter of Gas City, Mark Slatter of Pensacola, FL; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and loving dogs, Lady & Maggie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur “Dutch” and Naomi “Bobbi” Favors; husband, James A. Slatter; and brother, Steven Favors.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
