
Marguerite Evelyn “Maggie” Chaplin, 81, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 5:00 am, Sunday, May 10, 2026, at her home. She was born on October 9, 1944, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Carl Sirk and Marguerite (Hill) Arnold.
Maggie dedicated 51 years of her life to Vernon Manor Health and Rehab, serving as both a Certified Nursing Assistant and a member of the Housekeeping team before retiring in 2024. Her work ethic, compassion, and loyalty made her a beloved presence to residents and coworkers alike. She was a longtime member of the former Wabash Chapel Church of God, now The Remnant, and was also active in the Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge, VFW of Wabash, and the Lagro American Legion. Her community ties ran deep, and she poured her energy into every place she belonged.Maggie found joy in simple, spirited pleasures — she loved roller skating, and she was especially proud of portraying the Statue of Liberty in local parades, a role that brought smiles to many. She also cherished helping out at her church whenever she could.Above all, her greatest joy was her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure..
She is survived by her son, Harold (Faith) Chaplin Jr. of Wabash, five grandchildren: Tyler Harrell, Samantha Harrell, Zachary Chaplin, Alexandra Chaplin, and Connor Johnson; six great-grandchildren: Zoe, Milo, Stevie, Willow, Charlie, and Jaxson; and her brother, Robert (Paula) Miller of Springfield, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, three children, Terry Lee Harrell, Danny Joe Harrell, and Bonnie Sue Harrell, brother, Carl Sirk, Jr., and sister-in-law, Margie Sirk.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Friday, May 15, 2026, at The Remnant at Wabash Chapel, 1463 Middle Street, Wabash, with Pastor Ralph Johnson and Pastor Michael Moore officiating. Burial will be in Mount Etna Cemetery, Mt. Etna, Indiana. Family will receive friends from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Thursday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave, Wabash.
