GRANT COUNTY, IN- On April 28th, 2026, following an ongoing narcotics investigation, Detectives with the J.E.A.N. Team Drug Task Force, with assistance from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of approximately 450 E. and SR 26. The vehicle continued traveling while a marked patrol vehicle had emergency lights and sirens activated before stopping in the area of approximately 3900 E. SR 26.
A canine officer with the Fairmount Police Department conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle and advised there was a positive indication.
A probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a clear plastic bag containing a brown substance weighing approximately 53 grams, which presumptively field-tested positive for fentanyl. The substance will be sent to the Indiana State Police Laboratory for confirmatory testing.
William Hensley, 42, of Jonesboro, was arrested and preliminarily charged with:
• Possession of a Narcotic Drug with Intent to Distribute — Level 2 Felony
• Resisting Law Enforcement — Level 6 Felony

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
