Thelma J. Baldwin, 99, of Gas City, passed away at 5:11 pm on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Marion Health. She was born in Madison, Indiana, on Monday, August 9, 1926, to Carl and Ethel (Green) Roberts. On September 1, 1947, she married Darrell J. Collette, and he preceded her. Later, she married Girstal Baldwin, and he also preceded her.
Thelma graduated from Fairmount 1943 and worked 15 years at JC Penney, retiring in 1988. She loved her flower garden, especially in the summer when her lilies were blooming. Most of her life was centered around raising her daughters, who meant everything to her. She spent many years attending her church and being part of that community. She was grateful for good friends who looked out for her and stayed by her side over the years. In her free time, she enjoyed reading Amish romance novels and working on jigsaw puzzles. When she was younger, she liked getting together with friends to play Euchre and have a good time.
Thelma is survived by daughters, Dianna Davis of Scottsdale, AZ, Janet (Daniel) Mihm of Ft Wayne; grandchildren, Laura (Dean) Randell, Michael Davis, Justin (Erika) Ecklebarger, Corey (Lisa) Ecklebarger; great grandchildren, Jack Randell, Nathan Randell, Addisen Ecklebarger, Alyssa Ecklebarger, Garret Ecklebarger; good friends, Walt and Regina Ramey and Doug Kluck.
She was preceded in death by parents, Carl and Ethel Roberts; husband, Darrell J Collette; second husband, Girstal Baldwin; sisters, Margaret Gregg, Mary Kessler; brothers, Charles Roberts and Bradford Roberts.
At the family’s request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park 1606 W. 26th St., Marion, IN.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
