Grant County pursuit leads to arrest

GRANT COUNTY, IN- On Monday, April 20, 2026, at 8:50am, deputies were dispatched to the 1900 block of East 38th Street in Marion in reference to individuals in a gray Chevrolet displaying a firearm and chasing the complainant. Deputy Michael Cook observed the possible suspect vehicle on 38th Street near 400 East and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle initially stopped but fled as soon as the deputy exited his vehicle.

Deputies, Indiana State Troopers, and several other local law enforcement agencies assisted in the pursuit of the armed subjects, which traveled into Gas City and then onto Interstate 69 at speeds of more than 100 mph at times. The pursuit continued southbound on the interstate until the suspect vehicle struck a trailer being pulled by another vehicle and was disabled in the crash near mile marker 218. The two occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody, and a loaded firearm, identified as a Century Arms Mini DRACO AK Semi-Auto Pistol, was recovered from the gray Chevrolet Malibu. The pursuit traveled approximately 47 miles, crossing three counties: Grant, Delaware, and Madison. There were no injuries reported during this investigation and pursuit.

Cameron Allen Perry, age 26, of Indianapolis, Indiana

* Conspiracy to Commit Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon (Level 5 Felony)

Dontrell Devote Cole, age 24, of Franklin, Indiana

* Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon (Level 4 Felony)

* Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon (Level 5 Felony)

* Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle (Level 6 Felony)

* Criminal Recklessness (Level 6 Felony)

* Reckless Driving (Class C Misdemeanor)
