Marjorie M. Leckron, 92, Jonesboro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at 10:04 pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was born in Jonesboro, Indiana, on Tuesday, December 26, 1933, to Elijah and Georgia (Jones) Rice. On August 6, 1954, she married Robert H. Leckron and preceded her.

Tales are still told of her younger days, when Bob would pick her up for dates and would scoot over and have her drive, leading to a lifetime of her being the driving force. She loved building a home and found joy in caring for her family. A lifelong member of The Jonesboro Main Street Wesleyan Church and a part of Bethel Friends Church, her faith was an important part of who she was. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida. She was deeply involved in her grandchildren’s lives, always showing up for their sports, dance, and anything they were part of. Above all, her greatest happiness came from loving and taking care of her family.

Survivors include her children, Kandis S. Elliott of Jonesboro, Kris (Melody) Leckron of Fairmount; grandchildren, Matthew Elliott, Kylee (Payton) Scott, Jacob Leckron, Kailey (Jacob) Whitenack; great grandchildren, Elias “Eli” Scott, Easton Scott, Elliott Scott, Adalyn Whitenack, Wrenley Whitenack; sister-in-law, Phyllis Leckron-Summers; as well as many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Georgia Rice; husband, Robert H. Leckron; son-in-law, Joseph “Bryan” Elliott; sisters, Doris J. Leffler, Dellla Mae Lockridge, Barb Vermilon, Emma Jean Slater; and brother, Frank Rice.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
