Lorina S. Watkins

Lorina S. Watkins, 69, of Marion, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 8:46 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, in Marion, in the loving arms of her husband. She was born on December 5, 1956, in Rome, New York, to James and Gwendolyn “Sue” (Cramer) DeShane. On March 18, 1993, Lorina married Kenneth Watkins, who survives. Though they married in 1993, the two shared many happy years together prior to their marriage.

Lorina was a graduate of Marion High School and was well known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She worked for Foster Forbes for 27 years as a laborer and later was employed by Hi‑America. She retired in 2018. Lorina never complained about working and was deeply grateful for a career that allowed her to provide for her family. Outside of work, Lorina loved staying busy. She enjoyed camping and fishing, baking, crafting, and crocheting. Some of her favorite television shows included American Idol and House Hunters. Above all else, Lorina cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy.

She is survived by her father, James DeShane; her husband, Kenneth Watkins of Marion; her daughter, Brandy (Jaye) King of Marion; her sons, Shannon Johnson, Kenny Watkins, Jr., and Travis Watkins; and her grandchildren: Jacob (Hannah), Shelby (Ronnie), Keith, Bailey, Jailynn (Andrew), Shannon (Sofie), Tanner, Stephanie, Bradley, Landon, Isham, Jett, and Daxx. She is also survived by 18 great‑grandchildren and two great‑great‑grandchildren. Additional survivors include three sisters, one brother, sisters‑in‑law Sheri (Ramon) and Katherine (Steve), and brothers‑in‑law Stevie (Kim) and Glen.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Gwendolyn “Sue” DeShane and son, Travis.

In accordance with Lorina’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham‑Storey‑Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, Indiana.
