
Bill G. Hawk, 96, Gas City, passed away in his home at 9:40 am on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. He was born in Montpelier, Indiana, on Saturday, February 22, 1930, to Orval and Grace (Fetty) Hawk. On November 4, 1950, he married Joyce Elaine Campbell, and she preceded him June 10, 2025.
Bill attended Montpelier High School and then honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He worked as a machine operator at Anaconda and he drove bus for Marion High School for 30 years. He absolutely enjoyed coaching the little league Braves which he did for 18 years. He was a Mississinewa sports fan and enjoyed watching his “Cubbie Cubs”, IU basketball and football and he previously bowled in a bowling league. He loved riding his bike on the Cardinal Greenway and also riding many places on the motorcycle.
Survivors include his daughter, Beverly Edwards; sons, Larry (Ginger) Hawk, Michael (Theresa) Hawk; grandchildren, Keela (Doug) Schmidt, Troy Edwards, Amber (Ron) Ramsey, Stephanie (Brent) Halbur, Andrew Hawk, Derek Hawk; 20 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval W. and Grace Ellen Hawk; wife, Joyce Elaine Hawk; daughter, Terri Ann Hawk; son-in-law, Earl Edwards; brothers, Dick Hawk, Ronnie Hawk, Floyd Eugene Hawk, Gerald Hawk; grandson, Shawn Edwards; great grandson, Joshua Moreland; and great granddaughter, Kaylee Hawk.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Bill’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Hartford City Cemetery.
