Marlene Kay Meeks, age 76, went to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, passing away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Marion, Indiana on April 12, 1949 to parents Howard and Ruth Free. Marlene was a graduate of the Marion High School Class of 1967 and spent the majority of her life in her hometown. She married Charles C. Meeks on May 27, 1989.
During her career, she worked as a hairdresser. She was also a skilled seamstress. Her hobbies included home remodeling, gardening, and art. She was creative and resourceful in everything she did! After retirement, she and Charlie enjoyed many winters in Florida as “snowbirds,” where she took up pickleball and golf.
Marlene was a humble follower of Jesus and her life was a reflection of her strong Christian faith. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, friends, neighbors, and church. She volunteered her time to anyone she could help and loved being of service to others. Her memory will continue to be a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her husband Charlie Meeks; son Rowdy Bryant III (Stephanie), daughter Misty Allen (John), stepsons Brian Meeks, Rick Meeks, and Mike Meeks (Erica); and grandchildren Lexi, Peter, Alyssa, Roderick, and Brailee.
Marlene was a member of Grace Community Church and her life will be honored there from 1pm to 3pm on what would be her 77th birthday-April 12, 2026. Please join her family in celebrating a life well lived.
