Wabash man found guilty in drug case

WABASH COUNTY, IN- James E. Watson, age 54, from Wabash County, Indiana, was found guilty of Dealing in Methamphetamine, a Level 4 Felony, and later admitted to being a habitual offender, on March 18, 2026, in the Wabash Circuit Court following a two day jury trial. Jury deliberation took less than 15 minutes. The case has been set for sentencing on April 6, 2026.

The allegations in the case were that on November 26, 2024, James E. Watson sold approximately 3.12 grams of Methamphetamine out of his camper located on East Hill Street in Wabash, Indiana. The case was investigated by the Wabash County Drug Task Force.

Wabash County Prosecutor William C. Hartley, Jr. represented the State of Indiana and the Defendant was represented by Attorney Todd Whitehurst.

The sentencing range for a level 4 Felony is two to twelve years with an advisory sentence of six years. The habitual offender enhancement adds potentially eight to twenty years to the underlying sentence.
