Janice Lorene (Wagoner) Zellers, 88, of LaFontaine, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 10:31 am on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at LifeCare Centers of Rochester, Indiana. Born on May 16, 1937, in Rochester, Indiana, she was the daughter of Merrel and Mildred (Craig) Wagoner.
Janice graduated from Rochester High School in 1955. On January 20, 1956, she married the love of her life, Larry J. Zellers. They shared 62 wonderful years together until Larry’s passing on April 8, 2018.
Janice cherished spending time fishing on the lakes with Larry, often catching enough for family fish fries. She was also an avid and skilled euchre player. A gifted gardener, Janice loved growing African violets and possessed a true magic for nurturing them into bloom.
A devoted member of Lincolnville United Methodist Church for over 50 years, Janice took great pride in establishing the church’s nursery school and teaching there for five years. Janice was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her children: Steve (Mary) Zellers of Lagro; Dan (Donna) Zellers of Rochester, and Kandy (Joe) Vicini of Indianapolis, Indiana, daughter-in-law Becky Zellers; her grandchildren: Shawn (Racheal) Zellers, Joel (Minseon) Zellers, DeAnn Zellers Fetzer, Dustin Zellers, Elisa (Connor) Barnes, and Jacob Vicini; her great-grandchildren: Tristan, Alek, Wyatt, Max, and Carson; and one great-great-grandson, Xander. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Ann Hassenplug of Rochester, and a granddaughter in-law, Penny Zellers.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry; her son, Rodney; her grandsons, Christopher and Andrew Zellers; her sister, Patricia Egbert; her brother, David Wagoner; and her brothers-in-law, Adrian Egbert and Richard Hassenplug.
A celebration of Janice’s life will be from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Friday, March 20, 2026 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave, Wabash. Janice’s warm spirit, love of family, and dedication to her community and faith will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
