Wabash Carnegie Public Library names Debra Greenacre as Executive Director

WABASH, IN — Wabash Carnegie Public Library is excited to announce that Debra Greenacre has been named the new Executive Director, bringing more than two decades of library leadership and a proven record of innovation and community engagement.

“We are thrilled to welcome Debra Greenacre as Executive Director. Her passion for libraries and strong leadership background will help ensure the Wabash Carnegie Public Library continues to grow as a vibrant resource for learning, connection, and opportunity in our community,” said Bill Benysh, President of the Wabash Carnegie Public Library Board of Trustees.

Greenacre began her professional career with plans of teaching before discovering her passion for libraries and earning her Master of Library Science degree. Since then, she has served in leadership roles across public libraries and school systems in Michigan, Colorado, and, most recently, Indiana.

After a brief professional break from libraries, she now returns to leadership with enthusiasm for building strong partnerships, supporting staff, and ensuring exceptional service for the Wabash community.

“I absolutely love working in libraries and always tell my teams that we have one of the best jobs, making a difference for everyone. I’m always asking what more we can offer, what does our community need?” said Greenacre, when asked what she was most passionate about in this new role.

Greenacre began her role on February 16, 2026.
