Marcretta Jo Joy, 78, of Marion, passed away at 4:30 am on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Marion. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, July 28, 1947, to Cedervin and Verna (Sauntmon) Schultz.
Marcretta graduated from Marion High School and worked as a bookkeeper for 35 years with Grant County Division of Family & Children.
Marcretta cared deeply for others, and donated to several charities over the years. She enjoyed decorating, completing jigsaw puzzles, shopping, and being with family.
Survivors include her niece, Debbie (Brett) Howard of Marion; nephews, Jerry (Kandy) Sloop of Marion and Michael (Doretta) Joy of Wabash; great-nephews, Joshua (Jennifer) Hall of Galveston, Hayden (Taylor) Sloop of Marion, Kaleb (Molly) Joy of ID, and Keegan (Courtney) Joy of ID; great-niece, Jenna Hall of Gas City; plus, several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cedervin Burneen Joy; mother, Verna Schultz; and sister, Marcia Kellems.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a Funeral Service to celebrate Marcretta’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Estates of Serenity Cemetery in Marion.
