Carla “Darlene” Worthington

Carla “Darlene” Worthington, 73, of Wabash, Indiana, died Monday, January 26, 2026, at her home. She was born on December 27, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Kenneth L. and Helen (Shell) Short.

Darlene married John V. Worthington in Aurora, Indiana, on June 24, 1972. They shared nearly thirty-nine years of marriage before his passing on June 23, 2011. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church in Wabash, where she served as Director of the KICK Program, led the puppet ministry, and was actively involved in the Bus Ministry. Over the years, Darlene worked at Josiah White’s in Wabash, served as a unit secretary at Wabash County Hospital, and later contributed her time and care to Big Brothers Big Sisters. She enjoyed reading, crafting, and spending time at home. Darlene also owned and operated the Family Home in Washington state and remained deeply involved in the lives of her grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy.

She is survived by three children, Robin Weaver of Wabash, Amy (Timothy) Katt of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and John Michael (Carrie) Worthington of LaFontaine, Indiana, seven grandchildren: Brittany (Cory) Blocker of Wabash, Braxton Worthington and Isabella Worthington both of LaFontaine, Alex Weaver and Amber Weaver both of Wabash, IN, and Clark Katt and Michael Dean “Ikey” Katt both of Fort Wayne, three great-grandchildren: Wrenley Blocker, Wesley Blocker, and Willow Blocker all of Wabash, and sister, Sandra Dufrene of Sunman, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dwayne, and two sisters, Jerri and Donita.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave, Wabash, with Brad Wright officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 12:00 – 2:00 pm, Saturday, at the funeral home.
