Ronald E. “Ron” Daymude

Ronald E. “Ron” Daymude, 87, of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 2:18 am, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 30, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, to Arnold and Helen May (Horacek) Daymude.

Ron was a 1955 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School in Linton, Indiana; he then went on to attend Purdue University. Ron worked for several years at General Electric in Fort Wayne, Indiana, was a longtime real estate broker, and owned/operated Landmark Management. He married Barbara Carpenter in Wabash on June 3, 2024. Ron was a member of the Indiana State Board of Realtors. He was always working, but in his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and reading, but especially spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Carpenter; five children, Sherry Rarey of Hartford City, Indiana, Katherine (Paul) Shields of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Ronald “Chris” (Charlene) Daymude of Carmel, Indiana, Matthew (Corey) Carpenter of Huntington, Indiana, and Travis (Carrie) Carpenter of Wabash; 16 grandchildren, Nathan Graham, Khrystyna Golden, Jasmine Graham, Jennifer Graham, Madison Graham, Melany (Tom) Sherrill, Megan (Jason) Gothrup, Zachary (Stephanie) Rarey, Nicholas (Maria) Rarey, Spencer Daymude, Cheyanne Carpenter, McKinley Carpenter, Avery Carpenter, Josie (Layne) Evans, Abby (Gareth) Monroe, and Isabelle Carpenter; 21 great grandchildren, and brother, William “Bill” (Becky) Daymude of Linton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, JoAnne Edwards.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2026 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Phil Lake officiating. Inurnment will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash, at a later date. Friends may call 12-2:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Animal Shelter of Wabash County.
