Loren T. Carpenter, 93, of Marion, passed away at 12:15 am on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. He was born in Bloomfield, Indiana, on Tuesday, October 4, 1932, to the late Irvin and Cayula (Starks) Carpenter. On October 9, 1965, he married the love of his life, Viola Rosezella Goens, who preceded him in death just two weeks prior on December 23, 2025.
Loren was a dedicated and hard-working man who spent many years operating a forklift until his retirement. Outside of work, he was happiest with a fishing pole in his hand or listening to the Grand Ole Opry. Known for his friendly nature, Loren truly never met a stranger and always prioritized the needs of his family above all else. He will be remembered as an amazing husband, father, and a cornerstone of his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Penny Martin and Tara Nicodemus; his son, Timothy (Monica) Marsee; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sister, Ada.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Viola, he was preceded in death by his siblings.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the visitation, a service to celebrate Loren’s life will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
