
Joy D. Sellers, 91, of Marion, passed away at 11:46 am on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 25, 1934, to Raymond and Mildred Frederick.
Joy graduated from Ball State University with a master’s degree in special education. She worked as a social worker for many years with Vernon Manor Children’s Home until her retirement. Joy was an avid reader and enjoyed bird watching as part of the Audubon Society. She was a loyal Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. She also enjoyed knitting, loved cats, worked puzzles, and liked to travel–especially going on cruises.
Joy is survived by her sons, Anthony (Kelly) Sellers, Curtis Sellers, and Steven Sellers; her grandchildren, Anthony L. Sellers, Adam Sellers, Angel Sellers, Jared Sellers, Holly Sellers, and Nicholas Sellers; and her brother, Mark (Lynda) Frederick.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Frederick; her mother, Mildred Frederick; and her brother, Raymond (Winnie) Frederick.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
