
Candis Kay Mulkey, 66, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 9:55 am, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at her home. She was born on June 24, 1959, in Wabash, Indiana, to Argyle “Bud” and Lavon (Knisley) Keirn.
Candis was a graduate of Manchester High School. She married Garry Mulkey in Wabash on August 8, 2000, and had been together since 1991. She worked for 18 years at GenCorp, as well as 13 years at McDonalds both in Wabash. Candis was known especially for being a mother hen, she lived the Bible verse Matthew 23:37 “Jesus describes His own longing to gather His people like a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, showing a motherly, protective love.” Family gatherings were the joy of Candis’ life; she made sure everyone was well fed and always had a gift bag to take with them. She enjoyed the holidays, doing puzzles, was a huge Mickey Mouse fan, but most importantly she was loving and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband, Garry Mulkey of Wabash, two children, Dr. Greg (Kacey) Gahl of Lagro, Indiana, and Kristina (Joe) Partenheimer of Wabash, five grandchildren; Ella Gahl, Elijah Gahl, Justin (Shannon Davis) Gahl, Austin Gahl, and Tyler Partenheimer, great-granddaughter, Avereigh Hyden, brother, Steve (Lisa) Keirn of North Manchester, Indiana, twin sister, Sandra Keirn of North Manchester, sister, Roxanna (Rick) Monce of Urbana, and sister, Virginia (Ron) Cripe of North Manchester. She was preceded in death by her parents.
There will be a private celebration of life at a later date. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.
