Wabash County man found guilty on felony drug charges

WABASH COUNTY, IN- Leon L. Hershberger, age 56, from Wabash County, IN was found guilty of Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 3 Felony, and Possession of Cocaine, a Level 5 Felony, on November 5, 2025 in the Wabash Circuit Court following a two-day jury trial. Jury deliberation took less than 10 minutes. The case has been set for sentencing on December 1, 2025.

The allegations in the case were that during the early morning hours of December 10, 2023, Mr. Hershberger experienced an adverse reaction to edibles and methamphetamine that he apparently consumed at his residence located at 7117 W 1500 N in northern Wabash County. Ambulance personnel and law enforcement responded to Mr. Hershberger's address to provide assistance. While at the residence, officers with the Wabash County Sheriff's Department discovered evidence of a possible crime and requested a search warrant for the premises. Located on the premises was more than 24 grams of methamphetamine, cocaine, as well as various firearms. The case was investigated by the Wabash County Sheriff's Department.

Wabash County Prosecutor William C. Hartley, Jr. represented the State of Indiana and the Defendant was represented by Attorney Joshua Michael.
